In March 2025, the Baden-Württemberg Ministries for Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism and for Science, Research and the Arts presented their new position paper “Intelligent Robotics of the Future” at the European Robotics Forum. As part of her keynote speech, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, handed the position paper to Lucilla Sioli, Director of the European AI Office.

The position paper presents the strategy for how the state of Baden-Württemberg aims to become a leading region for intelligent human-robot systems by 2035. The AI-MATTERS “Test and Experimentation Facilities” also play a role in this. They are part of a comprehensive funding landscape that ranges from the development of an initial idea for an AI-based application to proof-of-concepts of existing ideas and initial demonstrator setups (through the AI Progress Center) to legal consulting formats (through the KIRR Real project) to ensure that companies meet all regulatory requirements.

AI-MATTERS is receiving 3.95 million euros from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism with the aim of leveraging the potential of AI in the manufacturing industry, strengthening the competitiveness of Baden-Württemberg as a production location and promoting digital sovereignty in Europe.

The position paper is available in German and English. See: https://www.baden-wuerttemberg.de/de/service/presse/pressemitteilung/pid/positionspapier-intelligente-robotik-der-zukunft-veroeffentlicht-1
